PlantRight and California Horticultural Invasives Prevention (Cal-HIP):
A state-wide model for voluntary action.
Many government and environmental groups have made headway removing invasive plants once they have invaded wildlands, but preventing the initial introduction of invasives may be the best defense for protecting the environment.  California’s horticultural industry is taking the lead in addressing this issue by participating in the PlantRight partnership (aka California Horticultural Invasives Prevention or Cal-HIP), a collaborative effort to prevent garden and landscaping plants from invading California’s natural wildlands. Nurseries, landscapers, wholesalers, retailers, scientists, environmental groups and governmental agencies have joined forces to find voluntary solutions to the invasive plant problem – solutions that can protect the environment and strengthen the gardening community
